Functions of the Training & Placement Department (TPD)

The Training & Placement Department (TPD) plays a pivotal role in facilitating student placements. Its core functions include:

  • Inviting Companies/Industries: TPD invites companies and industries to recruit students through campus drives.
  • Database Management: TPD maintains a comprehensive database of all students and shares it with companies as per their requirements and eligibility criteria, along with mutually convenient dates for campus interviews.
  • Scheduling Campus Drives: TPD finalizes suitable dates for campus drives by engaging with company personnel.
  • Skill Development: It organizes regular sessions for soft skills and technical development to enhance students' performance during placements.
  • Database Updates: TPD regularly updates the student database to align with company needs.
  • Logistics Management: TPD coordinates all arrangements, including venues and resources, for organizing campus drives.
  • Team Collaboration: It forms an active team comprising Heads of Departments (HODs) and senior faculty members for effective execution.

Eligibility Conditions for Students

To participate in placement activities, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Final Year and Pre-Final Year: Final year and pre-final year students are eligible based on company-specific requirements.
  • Participation in Preparation: Students interested in placements must attend technical and soft skills preparatory sessions.
  • No Payments to Agencies: TPD prohibits students from making payments to any agency or mediator for placements.

Job Offers

TPD adheres to the "One Student - One Job Offer" policy. Students may go through the selection process until they secure a job offer. Core company drives are open to students from different streams, even if they have offers from Software/IT Companies.

Student Code of Conduct

Students must follow these guidelines:

  • Formal Attire: Wear formal attire for all placement activities, both on-campus and off-campus.
  • Carry IDs: Always carry identity cards during placement processes.
  • Communication: Direct communication with company officials is not permitted.
  • Mandatory Attendance: Attendance of shortlisted/eligible students in placement drives is mandatory.

Debarment/Blacklisting Criteria

Students may face debarment/blacklisting under the following circumstances:

  • Disciplinary Involvement: Involvement in disciplinary activities or malpractices.
  • Non-Participation: Non-participation in two consecutive recruitment drives without prior approval.
  • False Information: Providing incorrect data or information.
  • Withdrawal: Dropping out of the selection process after being shortlisted.
  • Misbehavior: : Reports of misbehavior or complaints from company officials, faculty, staff, or volunteers.

Conclusion

Placement is a privilege extended to students, but it cannot be claimed as a right. TPD aims to provide placement or internship assistance to all final year students, ensuring equality and fairness. Students are expected to adhere to these guidelines, and any violations will be taken seriously. TPD reserves the right to modify or add to these norms for the benefit of students.
